Software Features
  • Pix firewall version:Supports version 6.2, a secure purpose built embedded operating system.
  • Plug-and-Play: Includes plug-and-play default configuration for simplified installation.
  • PDM Support: Includes Cisco PIX Device Manager (PDM) for intrusive, web-based administration of PIX Firewalls.
  • DHCP Server: Internal DHCP server supports up to 256 DHCP address leases.
  • Supports up to 5 remote access, or site-to-site, VPN peers
  • Supports 56-bits DES and 168-bit 3DES, with optional licenses.

In short, the PIX 506/506E provides a simplified PIX Firewall with two Ethernet 10BaseT interfaces, 32 MB RAM memory, and 8 MB of Flash memory. Uses 10BaseT on both interfaces. Permits flexible routing. Is not affected by network ingress filter DoS attacks.
